Case #1: A Good Man Is Hard To Find
In the case of “A Good Man is Hard to Find,” we are trying to determine
the motive on what caused the Misfit and his henchmen to kill the
family. In the story, a man known as the Misfit, is an escaped criminal
who kills people but we do not understand the motive on why he kills
people. An obvious explanation on why the Misfit killed the family is
because the grandmother recognized him. That evidence was gathered when
the Misfit said, “but it would have been better for all of you, lady, if
you hadn't of reckernized me.” If the grandmother would not have
recognized the Misfit, him and his henchmen might have just took their
car but let them go. Another motive what might have led him to this is,
is his suspicion about did Jesus raise the dead or not. In the story, it
is obvious this bothers him when he says, “If I had of been there I
would of known and I wouldn't be like I am now.” This definitely bothers
the Misfit which leads him to crime and the reason he is so mean and
shows no remorse to people. In conclusion, both these motives definitely
led the Misfit to kill the family and the fact that he doesn’t know if
Jesus raised the dead or not is definitely the reason of his life of
crime.
I did this same case. From a psychologist point of view, I'm sure there must be many things that made him so resentful and questioning of Jesus. He definitely has a lot going on in his mind.
